About Alta Ares

Alta Ares is a deeptech startup founded in 2024, building real-time AI for defense operations — ISR, C-UAS, and autonomous systems. Our clients are NATO-aligned militaries and defence institutions, with regular deployments during live exercises and operational demonstrations. We raised €2M seed in May 2025, 50M in June 2026, and are expanding fast.

Our product suite includes:

  • Real-time AI ISR module deployable on drones and tactical platforms

  • Counter-UAS solution enabling autonomous drone takeover in GNSS-denied environments

  • Full-stack MLOps platform for training & deploying military-grade AI models

  • Data fusion and trajectory prediction

Role & Mission

As a mechatronics engineer, you will contribute to the full development cycle of motorized and embedded systems. You will work on the integration of mechanical assemblies, electronic control systems, and embedded software to deliver robust, reliable, and high-performance prototypes and products.

Embedded Programming & Motor Control

  • Program and configure motor controllers (BLDC, DC, stepper)

  • Develop embedded software on microcontrollers (C/C++, Python)

  • Implement real-time control algorithms

  • Optimize motor performance, precision, and reliability

Mechatronic System Design

  • Design and integrate motorized mechanical systems

  • Develop mechanisms such as:

  • Opening / closing systems (enclosures, hatches, actuators)

  • Controlled lighting systems

  • Rail-guided or mobile displacement systems

  • Select actuators, sensors, and transmission components

  • Ensure mechanical-electrical-software coherence

Prototyping, Testing & Validation

  • Build and iterate on functional prototypes

  • Conduct system-level testing and validation

  • Perform debugging in lab and field environments

  • Improve robustness, reliability, and maintainability

System Integration

  • Ensure seamless interaction between mechanical, electronic, and software components

  • Contribute to system architecture decisions

  • Support integration with higher-level control systems

Requirements

  • Engineering degree in mechatronics, robotics, embedded systems, or similar (with strong mechanical background)

  • Proven experience in embedded programming (C/C++, Python, microcontrollers)

  • Hands-on experience with motor control systems (brushless, DC, stepper motors)

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and kinematics

  • Comfortable working on physical prototypes and performing on-site debugging

  • System-level thinking with a practical, hands-on mindset

Nice to Have

  • Experience with robotic motion systems

  • Knowledge of control systems (PID, motion control algorithms)

  • Familiarity with sensor integration (encoders, IMUs, limit switches, etc.)
